At Mashpi Lodge, our commitment to improving the guest experience is ongoing, and we are excited to share some recent updates we’ve made to our services facilities — all designed to create memorable and engaging experiences for our explorers.
Here are some of the notable improvements we’ve made:
Life Center
We remodeled the beautiful Life Center, a place for learning and discovery, located in the lower part of the Mashpi Reserve. The improvements include a new wooden floor that is resistant to water and humidity, a renewed roof in order to prevent leakage and improve visibility. We installed an irrigation system in the butterfly flight area and orchid garden and placed mosquito nets to keep the bugs from disturbing our guests.

Now, as guests explore the Life Center, they can also immerse themselves in the captivating forest vistas while exploring the butterfly farm. About 200 species of butterflies have been identified in Mashpi, and 21 of those species are bred in the Life Center.
Hummingbird Garden
We created this beautiful Hummingbird Garden at a natural viewpoint for the sole purpose of spotting all 32 hummingbird species that have been identified in our Reserve. It has now quickly become a cherished haven for our guests, so we embarked on a thoughtful transformation of its wooden structure to craft an even more inviting ambiance. We also expanded the hummingbird area with more feeders and a bigger space for wooden tables and benches to enjoy the magical moments here while watching toucans, tanagers, squirrels, etc. There are newly renovated bathrooms and two different pathways to enter.
Samay Wellness Center
Our Samay Wellness Center is the ideal spot to relax and reconnect with the essence of life itself. We have added a new, second jacuzzi closer to the forest, naturally separated by plants and foliage; a new resting area equipped with ottomans and sofas; better lighting in wicker lamps; and mosquito nets to keep the bugs out. We have revitalized the entire center to blend perfectly with the lodge’s natural environment.
New electric charging stations
In our unwavering commitment to environmentally sustainable practices across all our properties, we are thrilled to announce a new addition at Mashpi Lodge. Right at the hotel’s entrance, guests will find a dedicated charging station for electric vehicles. This means that if you arrive in your electric car to explore the breathtaking cloud forest, rest assured that your charging needs are well taken care of right here.
