A chance to learn all about the production of Ecuadorian roses here on the Equator, while also enjoying the grounds, stately house and color-filled showroom of flowers, all once part of a Jesuit retreat.
This colorful vegetable market is livelier on Saturdays, but you can indulge in some fresh and juicy fruits while you explore this outdoor market any day of the week.
The Plaza de los Ponchos or the Otavalo market is an iconic marketplace, displaying mesmerizing and bewildering arrays of woven textiles and traditional handcrafts. Wander through its narrow aisles, observe the local Otavaleños, and grab a bargain souvenir to take back home with you.
Visit the workshops of either Miguel Andrango or José Cotacachi in the small town of Peguche, where you can observe how the yarns are brushed, threaded and dyed before being woven into colorful traditional designs using either the back or the pedal looms.
Enter the home of Segundo and Alí Lema, musicians who employ bamboo to delicately craft wind instruments in the quaint community of Peguche and enjoy a small concert by the talented Alí Lema.
A lunch of fine Ecuadorian cuisine awaits at historic Hacienda Pinsaquí, an hacienda that dates back three centuries to the times of Simón Bolívar.
