The Most Photogenic Landscapes of Galapagos

Numerous and fantastic photogenic landscapes of Galapagos await each visitor that come prepared with their curious eyes and a decent camera. Once here, you’ll be captivated by the volcanic textures and geological formations that find themselves dotted by the iconic wildlife and surreal flora of the Galapagos, each playing a part in bringing these isolated and sublime pieces of terrain to life. And what place would be complete without the epic sunsets that glaze everything in their path with golden and pleasantly warm hues? Only here in the Galapagos does the surreal meet reality. Without further ado, we present you with a list of some of the most photogenic landscapes in Galapagos.

Bartolome

The View From The Highest Point Of Bartolome Island.
Aboard Our Northern Galapagos Itinerary, Our Guests Have The Chance To Appreciate This Beautiful Landscape.

Famous for its iconic “Pinnacle Rock” of towering earth that pokes out into the sky, Bartolome enchants with its sweeping beaches and photogenic peninsula that sees visitors always aiming to make this the “postcard” shot of the Galapagos. Beaches here offer visitors the chance to snorkel with penguins along with the opportunity to head up a series of wooden staircases that allow them to soak up the surrounding scenery and islands.

Española

A metropolis of birds awaits this popular gathering and nesting point for hundreds if not thousands of creatures. Situated in the southern area of the archipelago, Española is relatively flat and is perhaps one of the driest of the islands. Nevertheless, this doesn’t prevent it from becoming one of the biggest and best places to grab some spectacular landscape shots that are filled with wildlife.

Fernandina

One of the “newest” islands in the archipelago, Fernandina is a canvas of dried and dark-black lava flows. Patterns and textures abound here as colorful patches of lava cacti dot the dark canvas. One must be careful when walking around here given that hundreds of marine iguanas sit completely unfazed atop the equally black ground, camouflaged perfectly against the terrain. Small tidal pools and beaches come equipped with small wildlife of their own, and sea lions are often seen playing along the shores.

Genovesa

One of the northernmost islands in the whole archipelago. A huge array of birds await any and all visitors that come to these islands in search of feathery treasures and some incredible scenery. With beaches and visit sites that offer up-close encounters with the wide variety of birds that live here and viewpoints that allow guests to get their bearings in terms of how the island and it’s large bay look, Genovesa never disappoints.

North Seymour

With plenty of wildlife fluttering about the trees, bushes, and beaches, North Seymour makes for a nice little excursion that introduces visitors to a number of the iconic species of the Galapagos. Frigatebirds, blue-footed boobies, and palo santo trees surround you completely as you take a walk throughout this scenic little island. From the more woodsy inland area to the sandy beach that’ll take you back home to the Santa Cruz II Galapagos cruise, North Seymour is a pleasant little hike to take embark on during your Galapagos cruise.

Santa Cruz II is a replacement for the much-loved Santa Cruz, which plied the waters of the Galapagos for 36 years. It is not a new ship; it was built in 2002 and sailed as Mare Australis under the Australis cruise brand, operating expedition cruises around Cape Horn and to Antarctica. Metropolitan Touring bought the ship in 2015 and completely refurbished it, launching it as Santa Cruz II in October 2015.
