Sunrise caught us on Santiago Island with the Monk Rock right in front of us. It was a perfect day! The majority of guests chose to snorkel plus a short panga ride. As we were about to go around the edge of the bay, Wilmer, the panga driver pointed out a big fin coming out of the surface right next to us. We really didn’t know what it was at first, until this gigantic animal showed us a little bit more of its body. It was a huge manta ray! It was about 3 metres from tip to tip.
A special moment on Santiago Island
Immediately, all pangas came to where we were, and even though they couldn’t admire the manta ray for a long time, everybody got a chance to see it. It was a very special moment for everyone. Silence remained as we were finally going to our snorkel destination. Galapagos is and will be a never ending treasure box!
