Does location matter?

Perhaps you haven’t yet considered how important your hotel’s location is when it comes to transforming a normal vacation into a truly unique, otherworldly, and luxurious experience. Even when it’s a big city you are visiting, you know you are going to be able to enjoy it more if your hotel is located in a beautiful neighborhood (given you have to walk back and forth from and to it every day). You will also be able to see more things if your hotel is close to the entertainment and cultural neighborhoods. When you are on a vacation, time is precious and you want to get your money’s worth. Having more possibilities at your doorstep goes a long way in making or breaking your vacation, and the same philosophy applies to hotels in remote locations. When you’re visiting Galapagos, the question always is: why not choose a hotel that will allow you to experience beauty, exclusivity, accessibility and entertainment, all at once? This is the importance of location in the Galapagos, this is the importance of staying at Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel.

Why Does Location in the Galapagos Matter?

Just 4 of the 19 islands of the archipelago are inhabited. Consequently, hotel options are pretty varied. You will certainly find some less expensive choices, but it’s the details that make a world of difference. A gourmet breakfast with options for every taste, a paradisiacal view along with a service that will make you feel right at home, and the coziest of beds to slip into after a long day of exploration. If your hotel is located on a crowded street (yes, you can find those in the Galapagos too), you will be affected by the noises generated by cars and people. If your hotel is located too far from town, it will be a long and somewhat difficult journey to enjoy some of the entertainment possibilities that the town has to offer. In the case of Puerto Ayora – the jumping-off point for most travellers coming to the Galapagos – you will find a town that is full of life, cafés, restaurants, and little stores that you will love visiting. Not to mention the hospitality of its inhabitants, who will want to share everything that their town has to offer with each and every visitor.

Not Too Close, Not Too Far

In addition to everything that a 5-star hotel like the Finch Bay has to offer is the beautiful, secluded location that it’s situated in. It’s far enough from town to provide you with the intimate atmosphere you are looking for, but close enough to the town that you won’t miss out on any of the things it has to offer. The hotel itself is only a 400 metre motor-boat ride from Puerto Ayora’s main dock, follow by a 400 metre walk through a trail that goes past the beautiful houses, mangroves, ponds and volcanic rocks. And the best part? It sits directly in front of one of Puerto Ayora’s best kept secrets – Playa de los Alemanes. As a result, it’s the only beach-front hotel in the whole island (an island that also happens to be conviniently located right in the centre of the archipelago). This makes it the perfect spot from which to experience an Island-2-Island hopping programme while simultaneously providing some of the comforts of urban life found only minutes away.

The Importance of Location in the Galapagos

In Puerto Ayora you have one of the best hospitals in all of the archipelago, along with banks and ATM’s, and a decent array of gastronomical options that range anywhere from Italian all the way to sushi. The airport is a 40-minute car ride away, meaning you won’t have to head all that far to catch your plane back home, but far enough away that you won’t hear the planes flying overhead. Finch Bay is surrounded by Galapagos’ endemic nature and has its own beautiful garden. It is far enough from town that you won’t hear the faintest of urban sounds, but close enough to visit it every day if you wish. It is the only hotel that will allow you to feel like you’re on an island, while actually being on an island. How’s that for a good enough reason to choose a hotel in the Galapagos?
