Ironman 70.3 World Championship

Feb 24, 2015
Not just for athletes! Surf and street-pounding action comes to Manta as the Pacific Coast city hosts an exciting Ironman 70.3 world championship qualifier next August 9. For the first time ever, Ecuador will host this sporting event, part of a circuit of only a handful of other cities in South America. The 70.3 moniker refers to the 70.3 miles (113.1km) of gruelling racing; it starts off with a 1.2-mile (1.9km) ocean swim, followed by a one-loop, 56-mile (90.1km) bike race along the coast and through the Pacoche preserve, ending with a two-loop 13.1-mile (21.1km) run along the ocean to the finish line for a $50,000 prize and 30 slots for the 2016 world championship finals!
