Mashpi Lodge: A Rainforest Hotel in the Clouds

A Rainforest Hotel in Quito

A hideaway located on a high plateau just outside of Quito, Mashpi Lodge sits in the heart of a 2,500-hectare (6,177-acre) Reserve which is home to not only rainforest but cloud forest too. Our sophisticated and strikingly-contemporary Lodge is designed as the ideal springboard for exploring the biodiverse world of its reserve. It combines high levels of modern comfort, service, guided excursions, and cuisine hitherto unheard of in a tropical forest environment anywhere else in the world.

Beyond its glass walls, a profusion of plant species has adapted to this unique environment, creating an incredibly rich ecosystem of trees, vines, ferns, orchids, and bromeliads while being home to hundreds of bird species, possibly thousands of orchid species, tens of thousands of insect species, as well as monkeys, peccaries, and even pumas. And it’s a system that is still revealing its secrets to science to this very day.
