The World Travel & Tourism Council has selected Metropolitan Touring as one of their Case Studies worldwide, as an example of sustainability, good practices and commitment.
This places the company –now operating in four South American countries- at the top level in the industry for doing things the right way. Metropolitan Touring walks the talk.
Metropolitan Touring was a finalist in the 2009 edition of Tourism for Tomorrow Awards in the the Global Tourism Business Category at WTTC-World Travel & Tourism Council. The company has been selected as a Case Study due to its commitment to sustainability in three corporate fields:
- international best practice sustainability certifications
- a corporate environmental policy for the entire company
- the establishment of Fundación Galápagos-Ecuador, the NGO it launched to support Galápagos’ sustainability through conservation and community-benefit projects.
Metropolitan’s own definition of environment, as well as its operating mission, states: “Environment is the relationship between human beings and their natural and cultural surroundings. It is everything around us, where we walk, what we see, what we breathe, where we live, and where we work.” Thus, the development of its existing and new products is based on sustainability principles, preservation efforts, and social welfare support. It continuously measures its environmental performance, and also communicates results to its employees and guests.
