We have designed two Spirit of the Andes programmes over the last two years. The essence of these programmes is similar, but, by popular demand, we adapted the original itinerary to have more time in Cuenca over 2 nights. We're now calling the two itineraries "Classic" and "Express".

On Day 1, we head south through Cotopaxi National Park from Quito, overnighting at Patate before winding down to the tropical forests of Baños and then circling the heights of snow-capped Chimborazo Volcano and overnighting at Riobamba at the end of Day 2. On Day 3, we ride the rails down the Devil's Nose, continue south to the Inca ruins of Ingapirca and arrive at Cuenca. Here, guests have the choice of either flying to their next destination that evening or spending the night in the city in order to enjoy its World Heritage riches the next day.
Guests can choose between 3D/2N and 4D/3N programmes, private and shared.
The departures are:
o Shared only on Monday.
o Private from Monday to Thursday.
The first day visits a rose plantation.
Our newer programme also travels from Quito to Cuenca, but in a straighter line. So, on Day 1, we travel through Cotopaxi and arrive at Riobamba by nightfall. On Day 2, we take the train down the Devil's Nose and on to Ingapirca and Cuenca, and on Day 3 we explore the city's Old Town with expert guides.
The options are 3D/2N, private and shared.
The departures are:
o Shared only on Friday
o Private from Monday to Saturday.
The first day visits an Andean market.
