We've received great feedback from our guests regarding the new activities we're offering aboard the M/V Santa Cruz during its twice-fortnightly visit to Santa Cruz Island. As an alternative to the 'traditional' visit to the Charles Darwin Station in Puerto Ayora, guests can choose from the following:
Trekking in the highlands through the impressive Scalesia forest, full of birds and life, to a viewpoint called Media Luna.
Biking downhill to a secluded beach with white sand and turquoise water and a lagoon with flamingos, white-cheeked pintail ducks, oystercatchers and other migratory birds.
Visiting an organic coffee plantation to learn about the production of coffee (and other products) in the Galapagos Islands.
Walking to Tortuga Bay beach where they can kayak or simply enjoy some down-time: an hour walk will take guests to this white sand beach that's considered by many the loveliest in the Archipelago. Some of the species found in this area include: sea turtles, blue-footed boobies and marine iguanas.
Scuba diving: discover the impressive underwater world of one of the most amazing dive sites on Earth.
All of these activities are offered at no additional cost, except for scuba diving.
