Machu Picchu was elected as a must destination to visit before you die
Machu Picchu became entitled to another international recognition. The ancient Inca citadel was chosen as the primary destination to be visited before dying in a contest organized by an online newspaper in the U.S., "The Huffington Post." The newspaper took the destinations listed in the book "1000 places you must see before you die" (from the author Patricia Schultz) and, after choosing 16 of them made public election which could be the place that everyone must visit in their life. In a peculiar election process in which couples of destinations were set at random and the winner advance to the next stage. Machu Picchu beat the Red Square in Moscow, the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador, and Yellowstone National Park, United States, competing in the end to the pyramids of Giza, and finally obtaining first place in the competition.
