Caribbean Region
The Caribbean region is bathed in sun most of the year and this pleasant climate attracts visitors from all four corners of the world. With both historical and natural wonders to inspire the traveller, this area of Colombia is a must. The treasures of Cartagena and Santa Marta are steeped in colonial history, or take in the clear and fresh mountain ranges of the Andes and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
Andean Region
With the three mountain ranges, the western, central and eastern, that form the Andes region of Colombia, it is not surprising that this fertile area is the most populated of the country. Bogotá and Medellin are showcases of modernization and cosmopolitan life, whilst a short drive from these centres are rural and mountainous areas of spectacular beauty and fertility
Amazon Region
Amazonia which the Colombians' call this region is vast, covering almost 35 percent of country yet it is the least populated. Though isolated, a visit to the Amazon basin in Colombia can be made from Leticia where the journey into the canopy can be penetrated by motorboat and canoe and lodgings in Indian inspired cabanas catering for the adventurous traveller
Pacific Region
There are many reasons to come to this rugged part of Colombia, from its extreme biodiversity, magnificent marine life to its welcoming inhabitants. A visit to this region should include Gorgona Island where off the island humpback whales gracefully rise and submerge in harmony, or bird watch on the coast of Nuquí on empty beaches and dense forests
Insular Region
Considered the sixth natural region of Colombia the Insular region boasts islands of contrasting beauty located in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The powder white sands, lush vegetation and consistently warm waters on the archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia on the Caribbean attract creature from the sea and land, and a fair few travellers searching for sun and ecological treasures. Island living has never been so attractive
