Peru, in its extraordinary diversity of living resources and ecosystems, has an impressive diversity of cultures, which include 14 linguistic families and at least 44 different ethnic groups, of which 42 are located in the Peruvian Amazon.
These populations have significant knowledge about the uses and properties of species, diversity of genetic resources (4,400 known useful plants and thousands of varieties) and management techniques. For example, in a hectare of traditional crop of potatoes in the highlands of Lake Titicaca, it is possible to find up to three potato species and ten varieties. This is more than all species and varieties grown in North America.
Peru is a rainbow of sounds, flavors and colors that appear in more than 50 native languages still in use, thousands of ancient dances and musical instruments are to be seen and heard on major festivals and processions. Finally, Peru is home to millions of people waiting with open arms for your visit!
We look forward to leading you to discover its wonders:
