explora has many new projects and surprises for its unique lodge at Torres del Paine. The projects are among many initiatives featured in the Master Plan, drawn up in 2008 to continuously enhance the explora experience while improving the facilities and remain dedicated to the agenda of minimizing the environmental impact of the operations.
The projects at Hotel Salto Chico include:
Transformation of the downstairs dining hall into a "wine restaurant"
Replacement of all room doors and hotel windows
Improvements to the Spa area
Installation of enhanced weather-resistant siding on the exterior of the hotel.
Outfitting the property with a renewable energy system from Biomass, which will completely neutralize the hotel's CO2 emissions.
In order to ensure the exemplary standard of service that travelers expect from explora, Hotel Salto Chico will close its operations for two brief periods: June 27 to July 3, 2010, and again from July 27 to August 3, 2010. The hotel will remain in normal operation throughout the remainder of winter.
The aforementioned projects come after successful renovations conducted at Hotel de Larache / explora Atacama. Concluded in February 2010, the extensive interior and exterior renovations saw new additions to explora's desert address, including new suites, a wine bar and the "Bar de Exploradores."
Similarly, at Posada de Mike Rapu / explora Rapa Nui, an Ancestral Sauna will soon be operating (August 1st, 2010). The sauna is sure to be popular, enabling travelers to relax after a day of activities amid soothing hot stones as suggested by local tradition.
