Humankind will be celebrating World Environment Day on June 5th. For 2010 a very sensible theme has been selected: Biodiversity. However, this year a new and more realistic perspective has been chosen; biodiversity is the most wonderful expression of life. It comes as no surprise to see that 2010 has been declared as the International Year of Biodiversity, with one central idea; Biodiversity is Life. This message communicates how crucial is the protection of Biodiversity. It is here where the existence of environments, genetic variation, and future importance is highly concentrated. Loosing biodiversity is like taking away life options from future generations, while preserving biodiversity guarantees a better planet. Our generation has the unique advantage of being at the right time of evolutionary existence; we understand most processes happening around us and have the ability of making it better.
No other generation has had such responsibility, and failing is not an option. Without Biodiversity, there is no Plan B. We want our message to be a motivator in our industry for the understanding of Biodiversity. Far more than knowing how many birds in Ecuador, how many amphibians in Peru, how many mammals in Chile, and how many cetaceans in Argentina, is to realize what will happen to us if such biodiversity becomes just a memory. Thus, the integrity of our own species is framed by the survival of Biodiversity, and responsible tourism must be one of the most important vectors for achieving it. Metropolitan Touring invites you to positively contribute in the celebration of World Environment Day 2010, by simply keeping a solid commitment: Biodiversity Is Our Life.
