Starting September 16, 2010, LAN Ecuador, an affiliate of LAN Airlines, will begin regular operations to the Galápagos Islands, offering a daily flight from Quito and Guayaquil.
During its first year of operation in Ecuador's domestic market, the company has flown more than half a million passengers on domestic routes, which include the cities of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. LAN Ecuador also provides international connections to the United States, Europe, Chile and Argentina.
"We will continue promoting Ecuador's tourist attractions, contributing to its export growth and providing an excellent product, with special concern for the preservation of the environment. It is of great satisfaction for us to deliver a world-class service to the country, and we want Ecuadorians to feel proud of their airline," said Maximiliano Naranjo, General Manager of LAN Ecuador.
On the new Galapagos route, the company will operate aircraft from the modern Airbus A320 family, which are part of its fleet and use state-of-the-art technology significantly decreasing emissions.
