Cerro Castor (Castor Hill) located 26 km from Ushuaia, in the southernmost end of Argentina, welcomes more and more visitors in the winter season, who come along to enjoy the snow. It is very close to the capital of Tierra del Fuego, where the sea and the mountains meet to produce a dazzling geography. Cerro Castor is only 195 meters above sea level and its summit rises to 1,057 meters. It is reached via an international airport, a tourist harbor for large size vessels, or it can also be accessed by land through National Route 3. With a skiable drop that reaches 772 meters, Castor Mount distributes 20 kilometers in 24 runs, with different levels of difficulty, and off-piste sectors. Nordic ski is the most outstanding modality, with circuits that go through forests of lengas(Nothofagus pumilio) which can also be visited on snow rackets.
Unlike general belief, Castor enjoys very good weather in the Winter Season, from July 09 to October 12, with temperatures ranging between 5ºC and -5ºC, and has the best quality of powder snow, due to the stability of its temperature, offering one of the longest seasons in South America.
Modern lifts, skiing and snowboarding schools, are services that complement the infrastructure, and together with the Ushuaia scenery, turn Castor Mount into a complete resort, to ski in the confines of the world.
