The purchase was made through a joint venture of Orient-Express, called Peru OEH. The amount will be paid with cash reserves of Peru OEH and a long-term debt of $ 2.5 million.

The US hotel chain Eco Inn opened a four-star hotel in the city of Cusco, six blocks away from the Main Square. The project represents an investment of over eight million dollars, of which 4.5 million were used in the hotel construction, while the rest was used in the decoration. The hotel has 167 rooms, a living room-bar to hold 200 people, a spa, and panoramic elevators, among other complementary services.
Spain´s San Agustin Hotel Chain invests in Peru
Spain’s hotel chain San Agustin will invest 16 million dollars this year to develop four hotel projects in Peru. The first project for this year will be the construction of an eco-resort and a luxury tourist hostel located at El Chaco - Paracas (Ica), which will demand an investment of over three million dollars. The second project will be a boutique hotel in the city of Cusco, directly across the Corincancha.
Hotel Sheraton in Lima to be Upgraded
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide began the remodeling and upgrading of the Sheraton hotel, located in downtown Lima, with an investment of five million dollars to add 430 rooms. The remodeling is in progress and will be completed in a year and a half.
The Sheraton Hotel in Lima has a strategic location compared to other five-star hotels located in the districts of San Isidro and Miraflores.
Jose Antonio Hotels expands to Miraflores
José Antonio Hotels will start the construction of its third hotel in Lima, located in the district of Miraflores at the beginning of April, as part of its expansion plan. Hotel Jose Antonio is located 30 minutes from the airport, in the residential and commercial area of Miraflores.
The project will have 150 rooms, two conference rooms with capacity for 600 persons, two parking lots for 100 vehicles, two restaurants, a coffee shop and a bar. This project will require an investment of eight million dollars, and it could be rated as an upgraded four star hotel, which means a four star hotel with the services of a five star hotel.
Inkaterra to open boutique hotel in Cusco in April
The Peruvian Group Inkaterra will inaugurate a boutique hotel in downtown Cusco next April. The project, located opposite the Monasterio Hotel which belongs to Orient Express, needed an investment of more than two million dollars for the construction and decoration processes. To construct this boutique hotel, an old colonial-style house built in 1585 was restored keeping its architectonic style but adding non-conventional elements. The hotel will house 11 suites with inner fireplace; it will also have a spa and a restaurant, among other facilities. Jose Koechlin, the company’s president, said that as per international ratings, this hotel could be considered a six-star due to the quality of its services. "In this sense, this will be one of the first boutique hotels to be built in Peru", he stated.
US Hilton to start construction of hotel in Cusco next year
The US chain Hilton Hotels Corporation plans to start the construction of a hotel in the city of Cusco next year. Nowadays the chain owns 6,000 m2 of land located on the Santa Ana hill, four blocks from Cusco’s main square or Plaza de Armas. Currently Hilton is at the stage of financing the project and determining what type of hotel will be built, within the great variety of Hilton styles offered worldwide. The Hilton Hotels Corporation is a hotel chain with more than 2,900 hotels and 480,000 rooms in 76 countries.
Decameron Hotels arrive to Peru
The Tumbes Regional Board of Commerce and Tourism in northern Peru, has informed that construction of the first Decameron hotel will begin next month at Punta Sal Beach. “The implementation of the infrastructure of this exclusive hotel chain is a great opportunity to reinforce the image of the region”, said an official representative of the board. The project will be ready by 2009, and parallel to its construction, the Board will be developing a strong promotion of Tumbes, as a beach and nature destination.
Casa Andina to open two 5-star hotels in Lima and Arequipa
The Casa Andina hotel chain announced the official opening of two Private Collection 5-star hotels in February 2008, one in the Miraflores district of Lima and other in the city of Arequipa. The hotels will have a soft-opening period of one month. At the Miraflores hotel, the soft opening has taken up all January and the official opening is on February 7th to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the hotel chain. Regarding the Arequipa hotel, the soft opening began on December 7th and will end next February.
