Metropolitan Touring & Fundación Galápagos-Ecuador Share Their Experience at the I International Conference on Solid Waste Management
As part of our Environmental Policy it is important to share our experience, projects and results with others. A few weeks ago, Earth Green hosted the I International Conference on Solid Waste Management in Quito.
Metropolitan Touring & Fundación Galápagos Ecuador were invited by Dr. Luis Díaz to present our case to an audience technically associated with solid-waste management at a city council and municipal level. Our presentation had a motivating title: “Unique Destinations Big Challenges Successful Stories: The Galapagos Islands and Its Realities”.
Our goal was to present how a contribution from the tourism private sector of is working for the sustainability of the Galapagos Islands, while providing options for the local community. Attendees gave special recognition to the Coastal Cleanup Project of the islands.
Fundación Galápagos-Ecuador Awards Local Students on the 50th Anniversary of the Galápagos National Park
During the commemorative events of the 50th Anniversary of the Galapagos National Park (1959-2009), students in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island, were invited to participate in a very inspirational contest: “Oratory for the importance of the Galapagos Islands to the World”. Local students had wonderfully put together the most inspiring words for the islands, but, most important, for their integrity. Because local students will be the future adults of taking Galapagos’ decisions, Fundación Galápagos-Ecuador & Metropolitan Touring provided nine ship expeditions on board the M/V Santa Cruz for the nine students chosen as finalists. Students will broaden their perspective by visiting the faraway sites of the National Park, otherwise not accessible from their home village. Bon Voyage Kids!
