Brangelina, their six children and other life escorts (nannies, assistants, who knows) have arrived to the Galapagos Islands… which means: the Galapagos Islands have not only made the news, but the tabloids as well. Apparently, the Galapagos travel itinerary for the couple and family is a comfy stay at a “villa” (according to the latest gossip magazines) followed by a Galapagos cruise tour on a fancy yacht to the nearby islands…

Galapagos Islands: Land without frogs

So… why aren’t there any frogs in the Galapagos Islands? I don’t know if Galapagos tour visitors ever wonder about this, but Charles Darwin did find the particular fact quite unnerving… especially since he was ready to study theology for who knows how long and perhaps even become a priest. Could he still do this, upon noticing that the Galapagos Islands had no frogs? There were enough marsh and lake habitats to support amphibian life… why, and this was the question, did God not put amphibians in them!?

Newcomers have just arrived on the cruise ship, a young inexperienced crowd still “ah-ing“ at pelicans or speaking naively about hoping to see a Blue-footed Booby. “I heard you can swim with sharks…”, says a particularly timid chap, evidencing utter fear… as you eavesdrop, you can’t help but snicker: “they don’t know what they’re in for!”
